Pat Metheny x Brainteaser Orchestra ‘Bright Size Life Reimagined’

On July 11, 2026, composer and conductor Tyn Wybenga will perform alongside the legendary Pat Metheny at the 50th North Sea Jazz Festival. This unique concert presents the music from Metheny’s iconic album ‘Bright Size Life,’ completely re-imagined by Wybenga and performed by his Brainteaser Orchestra.
‘Bright Size Life’ is Pat Metheny’s debut album, released in the same year as the first edition of the North Sea Jazz Festival. This fact inspired the festival team to create a new interpretation of this album featuring Dutch musicians and Pat Metheny. When the idea was presented to Metheny, he immediately expressed his desire to collaborate with Wybenga and the Brainteaser Orchestra.
Wybenga on this special collaboration: “I am truly surprised by this news. How is it possible that Pat Metheny knows my music and my band? Isn’t that amazing? Years ago, I played the music of Bright Size Life during background gigs at the North Sea Jazz Club, and now I get to perform my own interpretation with Pat Metheny himself! Pat also said: ‘Do your thing and go crazy!’ So I really have a carte blanche to put my own spin on the music.”
